Al-Khalid Tank
Al-Khalid / MBT-2000 is the Main Battle Tank of Pakistan Army which was developed by Pakistan with contribution of China. It was also known as the Immortal Tank. In 2001 about 300 tanks were under use Pakistan army. The tank was developed by Heavy Industry Complex in Taxila. The name is given to tank in reference of Great and Brave Muslim Commander Khalid bin Al-Waleed.
In 2001 Bangladesh ordered Pakistan to manufacture 44 tank. This tank was also commanded by Moroccan Army. Peruvian Army also tested this tank and wants to Purchased this tank from Pakistan, but due to financial crises they failed to purchase. It is light weight and small as compared to Western Tanks.
Its weight is 46 ton, width is 11.5 ft (3.50 m), lenth is, 33.0 ft (10.07 m), its 7.9 ft ( 2.40 m ). Its speed is 70 kilo meter per hour.In 2011 the cost of one tank is $4.7 million to $4.8 million.
